You can’t post answers that contain an email address. I have the same dvd burner that you described above. It will not allow formatting of the disc. Sounds to me like your DVD burning program may be corrupted. The system does not recongnize the dvdrwab ata as dvd rom. It now only reads cd’s and will not read dvd’s nor will it burn anything but cd’s. Helpful 7 Not Helpful Comment Flag.

You should only use GWA firmware from other unknown sources like the one above as a last resort. I have the same drive and a similar problem.
